How To Identify Sailboats
Islam in Mexico
The 2010 Census counted three thousand 760 Muslims living in the country, from the fundamentalists to the moderate Chiapas DF Jorge Alejandro Medellín
Fifteen states of Mexico are seat communities professing Islam as their religion. The death of Osama Ben Laden, executed by U.S. Marines last May Day, revived surveillance on them are the governments of Mexico and the United States: in Nuevo Leon, Chihuahua, Michoacán, Veracruz, Chiapas, Oaxaca, Puebla, Coahuila, Jalisco, Baja California, Baja California Sur, Sonora, Morelos and the Federal District, Islamic groups remain under the microscope of the Centre for Investigation and National Security (CISEN), the Attorney General's Office ( PGR), the ministries of National Defense (SEDENA) and Navy (Semar), Federal Police (PF) and, of course, of the 16 security agencies operating a few blocks from the Embassy of the United States in the capital.
The Islamic community in Chiapas, split from the other groups for their tendencies, is one that remains under constant surveillance. In Michoacán, there is another core of adherents to Islam, guarded to prevent any possible rapprochement with the La Familia Michoacana cartel, whose leadership is sending a Messianic Christian religious nature.
HOW MANY AND WHERE?
latest official figures from the Mexican government on the number of Muslims and non-Arabs who profess Islam indicate that about four thousand people follow this religion in the country. The National Institute of Statistics and Geography (INEGI) revealed in the Census of Population 2010 that three thousand 760 Muslims in Mexico, of which two thousand 368 thousand 392 are men and women, when in 2000 there were about 500 thousand Muslims in the country. The census does not provide even the stocks are located the largest concentrations of Muslims and how many of them are not born in Mexico.
Meanwhile, in the last five years (2005 to 2010), the National Migration Institute (INM) recorded legal entry to the country of 41 thousand 825 passengers from 14 Arab and Muslim countries (Afghanistan, Saudi Arabia Bahrain, UAE, Iraq, Iran, Jordan, Lebanon, Pakistan, Palestine, Syria, Turkey, Libya and Tunisia) where Islam is the predominant religion. The frequency of visits to Mexico by travelers from countries Muslim or Islamic belief is growing. The document "air tickets by continent and country of citizenship 2005-2010", presents a list of around 270 nationalities of visitors, where the first among Islamic countries is occupied by moderate Turkey, with 12 thousand 360 Muslims of visitors Mexico.
The second site is occupied by Iran, with nine thousand 450 visitors, the third site is in Lebanon, with five thousand 966 entries, followed by Pakistan, with four thousand 538 income, and in fifth place is Saudi Arabia, with two thousand 608 travelers. Indicated that most airports arrived mainly located in resorts such as San Jose del Cabo, Cancun, Cozumel, Puerto Vallarta, Guadalajara, Mexico City, Manzanillo, Huatulco, Ciudad del Carmen, Merida, Mazatlán, Puerto Escondido, Tijuana, Chetumal, Acapulco, Zihuatanejo and Merida, among others. UNDER THE LENS
"We watch, we know that we recorded, our listeners, who are attentive to what we do, but have no fear," said Muhammad Al Meksiki Ruiz, director of Mexico's Salafi (CSM) established in 2004 and one of the most important for the followers of Islam in the country. "He who owes nothing, fears nothing," added Al Meksiki to remember that the terrorist attacks in September 2001 severely damaged, the persecution and prejudice against him multiplied. People stopped going to mosques, stopped going out as a precaution. Eventually all that was forgotten and gradually recovered the pace of life and mosques became re-populated, he says. Ruiz says Al Meksiki Osama bin Laden, the slain leader of Al Qaeda was carving out his own end, one where their actions were finally imposed the punishment Allah that ended his life.
But for Muslims in Mexico, the surveillance continues. State agents come and go through the centers and prayer meeting of Islamic groups in the country, and they know they are infiltrated, but not worried: "I assure you We have done good in many ways, we have helped groups and sectors of Mexican society with our presence, most of us have good work, good business, pay taxes, constantly studying the Koran and the Sunna and are good people " .
IN ALERT
In Coahuila, according to national security, one or two Islamic centers located by intelligence elements have been linked to common law crimes such as theft of auto parts, theft or forgery passer and piracy. They so far the only identified as problematic by the Mexican government. Outside of that scenario, the intelligence agencies and military have not identified potential risks or Islamic terror alerts on Mexican soil, much less the presence of cells or sympathizers of Al Qaeda.
In Chiapas, another group of Islamic fundamentalists characteristics are carefully monitored by intelligence agencies and Mexican Americans, and even other communities professing the same religion in the country. They created a little over three years the site of El Islam in Mexico (http://islammexico.org.mx), have dozens of members from the Middle East and Spain, have made some 400 indigenous Tzotzil Islam and carry out four projects of human and community development based on structure Guild as a basis for a society that must be kept away from capitalism, usury, the accumulation of wealth and human degradation.
The Web site details the organization's education projects, Woodworking, Food Preparation and those who are looking to save the indigenous people of Chiapas to "degeneration, slavery and exploitation." For this group Islamic organization Al Qaeda is a kind of myth created by the powerful to attack and discredit Islam, "is a phantom organization, a trademark that sets the seal on the most heinous acts of barbarism. Killings of innocent nasty for any human being. " Al Qaeda is "the kind of terror, this phantom organization that nobody has ever seen, has the effect of signal Muslims, all Muslims as the perpetrators of such heinous acts," the English-language site designed and riddled with images Tzotzil Indians dressed as Muslims, praying and following the Islamic rite. "We are introducing Islam in Mexico. Islam spreads in Mexico: Mexico's spiritual connection with Islam is stronger than you can imagine. Islam in Mexico is strengthened every day. Islam is growing in Latin America, Islam in Chiapas is a surprising fact, Islam is as strange as indigenous natural " is posted on the site.
While Islam tries to gain more fans in Mexico, the Department of U.S. Homeland Security (DHS, for its acronym in English) is providing data on the presence of potential perpetrators of Muslim or Islamic religion in Mexico. His most recent book, released in June 2010, indicated that during fiscal year 2009 were detained at the border with Mexico 125 illegal immigrants of Syrian origin, Sudanese, Pakistani, Iranian, Iraqi, Lebanese, Yemeni, Nigerian, Somali, Algerian and Saudi Arabia. Among those arrested caught the attention Daniel Joseph Maldonado and Miguel Alfonso Salinas, both seized with documentation certifying them as Mexicans.
U.S. security officials say, Maldonado has ties with Somali rebel groups and received terrorist training in Somalia in 2007. He was caught trying to enter the United States to seek to indoctrinate young students and turn them into human bombs. As Miguel Alfonso Salinas was arrested at the international bridge in New Mexico in 2006. He was subjected to interrogation by the Federal Bureau of Investigation (FBI, for its acronym in English), he discovered his real name: Ayman Kamal Sulmane, and nationality: Egyptian.
